Heather Brown
Independent Consultant
Heather is an independent consultant specialising in strategic advice and tools development addressing and preventing violence against women and children. Heather has 20 years experience in women's rights and aid and development. She has extensive experience in the Pacific and her clients include the World Bank, UN Women, Oxfam and IWDA.
Danny Blay
Independent Consultant
Danny was the Chief Executive Officer of No To Violence Male Family Violence Prevention Association (NTV) Inc. for eleven years. He now provides advice, training and project development in responses to and prevention of family violence and sexual assault, and in gender equity projects.
Danny has made significant contributions to the development of improved and innovative ways in which family violence is addressed in Victoria. He has been involved in the training of sector workers, including the development and delivery of Australia’s, and perhaps the world’s, first stand-alone university qualification for working with men who use violence with a specific focus on men's behaviour change work, the Graduate Certificate in Social Science – Male Family Violence Group Facilitation. He was also involved with the redevelopment and accreditation of the Graduate Certificate in Social Science – Male Family Violence Telephone Counselling course, both provided jointly with Swinburne University. Danny also led the expansion of the Men’s Referral Service into New South Wales.
In recent times, Danny has provided a range of services for government and community organisations. He is an experienced instructor of many hundreds of child protection practitioners, family services workers, corrections staff, police, the judiciary, youth workers, alcohol and other drug counsellors and other professionals to recognise and safely respond to men’s use of family violence.
Avega Bishop
Independent Consultant
Avega has a depth of experience as a program manager, adviser and consultant to advance gender equality, women’s rights and social inclusion in projects and in organizational processes.
She has a Masters in Evaluation, which complements her practice experience in evaluative work at each stage in the program cycle. Avega enjoys working with teams to facilitate reflection, learning and program improvement.
Juliet Hunt
Independent Consultant on Gender Equality
Juliet is an advocate for gender equality and human rights. She has worked in the overseas development sector since 1978, focusing on gender equality,
violence against women, gender auditing and organisational change, research on gender equality and violence against women, and the design and delivery of training programs and materials. She has worked closely with several local women’s rights and non-government organisations in the Pacific and other regions, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and INGOs. She is a Churchill

Kara is an experienced humanitarian and development worker specialised in disaster risk reduction, food security and program management. Fluent in Chinese and possessing a Masters in Refugee Studies, Kara has worked in contexts as diverse as Vanuatu, China, Ethiopia and South Sudan
Loretta Pilla
Independent consultant
Loretta has 13 years of community and international development experience specialising in identifying, nurturing, and promoting feminist voices. She has expertise in gender mainstreaming and analysis, academic and participatory health research, monitoring and evaluation, and facilitation and training. Loretta has interest and experience in the application of social behaviour change communication strategies. She is passionate about exploring the nexus of gender, food security, and global health. Loretta has supported projects funded by DFAT, USAID, the World Bank Group and UNICEF, and has field experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, the United States of America, Australia and the Pacific.
Di Kilsby

Di has almost thirty years’ experience as a community development practitioner, trainer, researcher, facilitator and advisor, focusing on transformative work towards social justice, gender equality and inclusion. She has worked for many non-government, contracting, donor and multilateral organisations across Africa, Asia and the Pacific Islands, and in Australia. Di has highly developed critical skills and takes a holistic and multi-disciplinary, evidence-based approach to understanding and promoting social change. As a gender trainer, adviser and advocate for change, Di brings a depth of knowledge and analysis grounded in pragmatism and strategic thinking developed through many years as a practitioner.
Barbara Kepa-Huafolo

Barbara is an independent research consultant from Papua New Guinea (PNG). She has worked in many parts of PNG for over 10 years implementing and managing research projects. Areas of research include, HIV, gender (VAW), family planning, malaria, WASH, human resources for health and other public health and development research and has experience in monitoring & evaluation and project management. She has a Master of International Public Health from the University of Sydney. Other countries she has worked in include Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Australia. Organizations she has worked with include; Population Services International; The Equality Institute; UN Women; Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research and the University of New South Wales.

Lula is a passionate advocate for survivors of childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence. Combining lived expertise with over a decade in the public service and family violence sectors successfully leading gender equality initiatives, from corporate strategies to international implementation of UN Women Peace and Security, Lula understands the complexity of responses needed to effectively address and reduce gendered violence.

Bu is an experienced development professional with thirty years of experience in Australia and the Indo-Pacific region. She specialises in gender equality, monitoring and evaluation, research, capacity development and partnership brokering across a range of sectors. These include ending violence against women; law, justice and policing development; and governance.
Hannah Tamata

A Vanuatu national, Hannah has worked in the field of social inclusion, participatory planning and management and gender mainstreaming for four years. Working with NGOs and management consulting firms in Vanuatu, she has developed gender mainstreaming checklists, guidelines and training manuals for integration at various levels including policy and law reform, local, national and sub-national government, gender responsive projects and humanitarian support, transitional justice and community reconciliation
Naomi Woyengu

A Papua New Guinean with a Bachelor of Honors in Political Science from the University of Papua New Guinea. Naomi has over 5 years of experience in community development programs and projects, specialising in youth and young women’s leadership, gender equality, sexual reproductive health for adolescents, research, monitoring and evaluation, training and facilitation, policy advocacy and program design.
Phetsakhone Somphongbouth-akanh

Phetsakhone is a Lao national, with 18 years of experienced working in supporting and promoting the rights of people, gender equality and social inclusion. She has worked with local organisations, iNGOs, UN agencies and ethnic community in national and regional. She also experienced working on prevention gender base violence, sexual harassment and exploitation. Her personal goal is to work with diverse groups of people and individual to address their needs, well-being and justice.
Sharon Smee

Sharon has over fifteen years’ experience in women’s rights specialising in advocacy planning and strategy, research, policy analysis and facilitation. As an independent consultant and policy advisor, Sharon has worked with women’s rights organisations across Asia, the Pacific and Europe to influence policy and practice on issues including women’s leadership, response and prevention of violence against women, and women, peace and security. Recent clients include The Equality Institute, IWDA, Womenkind Worldwide, and Plan International.
Glenn Davies

Glenn Davies is a Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist, contracting in Australia and across the Asia Pacific Region. Glenn specialises in working with organisations and businesses to develop and deliver policy and training to address workplace equality, respect, inclusion, and ending violence against women and children. He has worked for several international development agencies including Australian DFAT funded programs. He has enjoyed working with Fairtrade New Zealand, the Australian Government, and local NGO's, the Brotherhood of St Lawrence, the Gender Consortium at Flinders University Glenn mentors local Gender Equality advisors on DFAT Australian Aid education programs in Kiribati and Vanuatu.
Cristina Vara Almirall

Cristina is studying her Master’s in International Administration and Global Governance at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. She recently interned for the research, policy and advocacy department at IWDA focusing on feminist leadership. Cristina has international experience volunteering for various not-for-profit organisations in community development. She is interested in exploring the power dynamics between intersectional identities and how this shapes communities and the world.

Marit has over four years’ experience in human rights and international affairs. She holds a Masters in Crime and Criminal Justice and is undertaking further study in Communication for Development. She has professional experience with multilateral institutions such as the European Union and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as NGOs such as CARE Australia, focusing on the promotion of basic rights for women, children and youth.
Suzi Chinnery

Suzi has worked across Asia and the Pacific for two decades. She has extensive experience in gender equality programming including women's civil and political leadership, prevention of violence against women, women's economic empowerment, private sector and supply chain engagement and gender lens investment. She has brought a gender lens to organisation strengthening for not-for-profits and businesses, in particular the garment sector across Southeast Asia. Suzi has extensive design, monitoring and evaluation experience, including in participatory and human centred design processes. She has designed and led effective communications and social norms strategies within programs and has experience in designing, leading and using research for advocacy and program development. She has worked with multilateral, academic, private consulting and not for profit agencies. She possesses a Bachelor of Business (marketing); Master of International Studies; Master of International and Human Rights Law and is currently working towards a qualification in Psychology.
